A Genuine Ancient Chinese Bronze War Axe 1046-770 B.C.

A genuine ancient Chinese bronze Yue war axe blade made during the Western Zhou Dynasty 1046-770 B.C. measuring 10 cm long x 10 cm wide. Weight is 111 gr. A portion of the tang has broken off sometime in the past. Photos of "The History of Steel in Eastern Asia exhibit in the Macao Museum of Art Bronze to Steel Article" illustrate examples of my item and are comparable in size to this piece. The item is very stable with very manageable corrosion. The bird motif at the tang is comparable to other Western Zhou types like this.
A comment about Chinese bronze antiquities. Chinese fake ancient bronzes have been around for at least 130 years. since the Qing Dynasty started peddling them to westerners visiting their country. 40 Years ago I purchased a few of them before I was educated in antiquities. Today's market is absolutely flooded with "ancient" falsely represented "antiquities". The Chinese and now the Thai's have ruined the market for collectors worldwide. With today's technology they are quite proficient at making these items look almost genuine. 99.9% of "ancient" Chinese bronzes coming out of China and Thailand are modern replicas. 99.9% of ancient Chinese bronzes on EBay are Fake !  If you have viewed this listing then you have viewed other listings of bronze Chinese antiquities.
