    Description

    This auction is for a PRIMITIVE 6 TINE STURGEON ~ ICE FISHING SPEAR.  This is an antique that was hand forged by a blacksmith >> you can see the pounding marks, especially in the cross piece that is attached to the individual tines.  A longer shank portion has been welded onto the original spear.
    This likely was used by a sturgeon spearer on the Lake Winnebago system here in Wisconsin in the late 1800's to the early 1900's.   It could have also been used by the Native American tribes on the northern Wisconsin lakes.  Some points appear to have been repaired at various times throughout the spear's use.
    Width of spear is 9" and length is 23".  It appears to have been painted black at some time during the life of the spear.
    A great primitive item to hang in your lake cottage, family room, or man cave.
